To win at anything worthwhile you need a strategy. A strategy is an action plan involving a series of maneuvers for obtaining specific results. A good strategy consists of three elements: analysis, formulation and implementation. Lyons goes on to explain, “without strategic planning, decisions can lack direction and daily task often lack purpose.” In the early stages of creating a strategy, Lyons suggest conducting a SWOT analysis to clearly identify internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats. This SWOT analysis assists in building a strategy that positions organizations for long-term success.
